We are proud to announce the Czech-based employees of hospitality technology company, Mews, have formed a workplace union. With the Czech Republic being one of Mews’ biggest employee bases, our coworkers at Mews have done great work at organizing their workplace. We wish them all the best in their efforts at maintaining their working conditions and benefits. We will continue to provide them with all the support needed to improve their working experiences.
Organizers say the union formed out of the company’s recent reorganization in July, which led employees to look for a recognized way to be heard before decisions that affect them are made. In a remote-first company with people and teams spread across the globe, Mews employees based in Czech Republic needed a group to represent their shared interests, such as how benefits are set up locally. The Mews union in Czech Republic now joins the other unions and work councils that represent Mews employees in other countries. It aims for the same transparency and access to information, to be a safe space, as well as to secure the working conditions of Czech-based employees in a collective agreement through constructive dialogue with the company.
As the union’s Workplace Executive Committee states, “It’s difficult for one person to change an organization, but together, we can represent the collective voice of colleagues across teams on topics they care about and work with, engage in good-faith dialogue with the company, and commit to the outcomes we reach together.”
